My name is Sudikshya Baskota. I am 30 years old. I was born and brought up in Nepal, and I currently live and work in Seattle, WA. I have been in the States for about 10 years. I am a Naturopathic Physician and passionate about patient-centric medicine and integrative care medical model; empowering patients to achieve wellness using nutrition, exercise, lifestyle counseling, botanical medicine, mind-body therapies, and pharmaceuticals. I provide primary care services and integrative care through Cedar Avenue Integrative Medicine in Snohomish. I also work as Adjunct Faculty at the teaching clinic of Bastyr University, where I supervise medical students and as well as provide patient care at the neighbor care community clinic at West Seattle High School.  My clinical experience also includes providing adjunctive patient care to pregnant people at the Women’s clinic in Bellevue. I am also an active member of Naturopathic Academy of Primary Care Physicians.

When it comes to hair health, I utilize a basic hair care plan of shampoo-conditioner and traditional scalp massage care routine that I learned from my mother and sisters while growing up in Nepal. Utilizing varieties of oils such as sesame oil, almond oil and massaging the scalp for about 20 to 30 minutes improves blood flow to the area, relaxes the scalp muscles and it can also act as a sleep aid. I usually do this routine during the weekend and sometimes I leave the oil overnight. Some of the products I utilize are argan oil-based leave-in conditioner and curl support product called strictly curls by true professional.

I really enjoy the wavy curls right after washing my hair which does not last for long, unfortunately.  I also recently added a burgundy hair color for the first time, and I have been enjoying the color.

Hair health can also be a reflection of thyroid function, digestive health, and nutritional status and I encourage readers to support hair health internally as well as externally. Reach out to your doctor for medical advice on hair health.
